The JiTong management have announced a “Steam Festival” between Reshui and Jingpeng. Every day from December 24th to January 1st there should be a double headed freight train over the famous pass, starting in Reshui with some 40 freight wagons around 6am and returning from Jingpeng in the afternoon around 4pm. If you missed it before, here is your chance. I can’t manage to guide the group but will provide the best guide and the best driver you can have around Reshui.

Absolutely unnecessary as this line has been reported thousands of times in all the railway press and is covered on the internet quite well.
They will use 2 locos for the event, probably QJ 7038 and 7119. Haoluku is an abandoned place now, but the Y to turn the locomotives should still be in place. These locomotives are dumped in Daban: QJ 6891, 6991, 7012, 7030, 7038, 7041, 7048, 7049, 7063, 7104, 7105, 7119, 7143.
Extensions need to be negotiated with Zhang Yi Lan (email or phone).
There will be no European guide on this trip. Your contact persons in China are:
Bus driver Chifeng Jingpeng (Yuanbaoshan, Pingzhuang): the famous Li Hong Yi
Chinese guide: Zhang Yi Lan, Beijing
Both are very experienced in this particular area. Here they are:
This event is held by the JiTong railway company which is fully responsible for all services. As there are no spare locomotives available there is a risk of failure. FarRail Tours cannot be held responsible for whatever happens or does not happen. This is NOT a FarRail Tour!
